So we’ve lived in our apartment, very happily, I must say, for about 8 months now. Still, we never found the time to get some curtains. Before you go crazy about how little privacy that provides, I have to add that we do have roller shutters which we do close at night.

However, there’s something to be said about having soft, billowy, light-coloured curtains instead of metal shutters around you.

We recently went to a curtain store and got a quote of about 700€ just for the one room/wall so instead, we headed over to Ikea and spent about 70€ for the material for 2 rooms. Sure, we still have to get someone to sew the material together for us, but it’s already a huge improvement. The material from Ikea was not bad as well.

We got slightly off-white, partly see-through curtains for the main part and at some point we want to get dark purple drapes (or whatever they’re called) for the sides. Here are some ideas for the curtains that we want to achieve.
