Top 4 games we want to play in 2015: Steph’s picks

Happy New Year everyone! We at Kokstars are ringing in 2015 by sharing the games we are looking forward to with you.

Resident Evil: Revelations II

Resident Evil Revelations 2

I never used to play horror games but I enjoy Resident Evil because we can play it co-op. Chronologically this game takes place between Resident Evil 5 and 6. I still won’t watch zombie movies (unless it’s like Zombieland) but now I like playing zombie games because at least you can kill them.

Coming to PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in early 2015

DIY Christmas Decorations

Christmas is just around the corner and about 2 weeks ago or so, we got our home ready for the festive season. I mean, if they can start selling decorations and chocolates in October/November, it’s about time we got our act together.

Favourite Five: Apps by Steph

Ok so now I’m up with my favourite five apps.

Where my family at?

Where my family at?

1. Friend Locator by Life360 (or Family Locator)

It sounds a bit creepy, but with this app, you can keep track of others. The good thing is, however, that the other people need to first register, otherwise they cannot be tracked. They can then check in whenever they want and there are lots of settings that you can alter to make sure that your location is not constantly tracked. You can create ‘circles’ or groups of people who can all see each other and you can send messages to the other members as well. Another weird thing is that you can find any crimes/sexual criminals in the area – they show up as small dots. Interesting stuff and questionable, but still a useful app! You may want to turn off the email notifications though, as these can get a bit annoying.

Lost in translation

Learning a new language is funny. I’ve mentioned before that it sometimes takes the romance out of a language. For example, Blaupunkt? Sounded cool, exotic, right? Well, it is literally ‘blue dot’. Schwarzkopf? ‘Black head’.

On the other hand, literally translating languages proves for some hilariousness. Especially if you understand both languages. Sayings are the best in this case.

Veggie Delight

Experimental Kitchen: Hasselback Potatoes, Veggies and Spinach

Our freezer died on us recently, but luckily for us, we didn’t all that much in it. Some ice cream, some frozen bread roll for emergencies, and some frozen spinach.

We ate most of the ice cream that very evening after discovering our little ‘problem’ and then had to decide what to do with the spinach.

The final product: Chicken Burrito bowl

Experimental Kitchen: Chicken Burrito Bowl

So I saw this Buzzfeed post recently about copycat recipes from chain restaurants and decided to make a chicken burrito bowl for one seeing as my other half was at Oktoberfest.

Now I haven’t been to America, but I figured that since people want these recipes, they must be good!

White curtains, purple drapes though we aim for a darker, more red-toned kind of purple

Decorating: Curtains

So we’ve lived in our apartment, very happily, I must say, for about 8 months now. Still, we never found the time to get some curtains. Before you go crazy about how little privacy that provides, I have to add that we do have roller shutters which we do close at night.

However, there’s something to be said about having soft, billowy, light-coloured curtains instead of metal shutters around you.
