In recent years we have seen the rise of the standard military shooter they’re not all bad but they have a very similar feel some evil group is hell bent on destroying the world as we know it, by setting off all the nukes in the world or sending the US and China to war with each other. but these games have a redeeming multiplayer filled with unlocks that will set you back 200+ hours, but Wolfenstein is a different breed. Games im looking forward to in 2014
Now that 2013 has come and gone a huge list of awesome games has left a mark in our minds so this list is a few of the games that I am excited to play in 2014.
Thief
Now I didn’t play the original Thief games but I know what they mean to other I’ve met people who have a true passion for its originality and its style and I am happy to experience what has been called a Legend.
Mad Max
We haven’t seen anything in terms of gameplay but what has been shown is some great detail and from what we have seen it looks to be what Rage should have been.
Titanfall
Ok I will admit this when I first saw Titanfall I thought it was going to be another game that was hyped for its movement much like Brink, but after listening to people who experienced the game even in its early stages it became more intriguing and now its on this list, Stand by for Titanfall.
Dying Light
This game was introduced to me by a mate of mine in class I didn’t hear of the game because at that moment all I was thinking about was either GTA V or BF4 but after watching the gameplay that was online it truly was a different beast I love killing zombies and running around with mates so what a great combination to put both of them together and give it a smoother feel hopefully it will be more fluid then dead island.
Fortnite
I only heard of this one recently and it captured my attention immediately with its design and its concept with out any gameplay as of yet Im not sure if it will be as good as it looks but it gives the impression of being quite fun.
Project CARS
No its not a disney game its actually done by Slightly Mad Studios the guys behind NFS Shift 2 and this is a Sim racer, even though its incomplete it already has 60 licensed cars and over 35 tracks and some fictional race tracks as well. So if this keeps its pace it is sure to become Shaun’s new obsession.
Star Citizen
Do you ever find something that you didn’t need until you saw it? well Star Citizen is that same feeling, until I saw some gameplay of just the hanger with all the ships in it just….. mind blasting i never knew i wanted it yet there it is.
The Crew
This game looks perfect for some long sessions of co-op madness for me and Shaun its got driving a MMO feel and a huge location to drive in if it has the driving mechanics of either Driver or maybe GTA V it will be awesome.
The Division
Much like the Crew it promises a lot of things a huge map, playing with buddies, and dynamic gameplay so i have big expectations.
Watch_Dogs
Now this game was meant to come out this year but it got delayed probably because the dev team saw GTA V and said ‘yeah we need more time’ but im happy as long it means a better game.
Wolfenstein: The New Order
From what I’ve heard its has a old style shooter feel but the world loves that and sometimes needs to get away from complexity of bulletdrop and go back to the way things were but better looking and awesome.
So that pretty much rounds up of the games im looking forward to im sure I missed some games because its late night and im sleep deprived but so is the life of a gamer. So what are you looking forward to in 2014?
Gaming News Best of E3 2013
It’s been nearly 2 weeks since E3 but with assessments im only finding time now so here it goes
Sony FTW
Rev3 Games did a great coverage on the Ps4 but heres the low down The Ps4 was shown off its $399 or $100 cheaper then the Xbox One, they showed off new games and I will cover those later. As with all consoles I dont belve that we here at Kokstars will get one straight away because we are primarily PC gamers but it would be great to see one or both some time in the future.
Game Trailers
There are a tone of new trailers that came with E3 so here is my top 10 it was a very hard choice from all of E3 there are a few games like kingdom hearts that look cool but im not excited because i didn’t play the originals. Please dont kill me.

#9 Trials Fusion
This announcement trailer features both of the upcoming Trials games one of Console and one on iOS it looks great and I know that Shaun loves Trials Evolution. You can see it HERE
#8 The Order 1886
Now did I see this anywhere before E3…. No but it is being developed by santa Monica studios and what is it about who knows but it looks like a 4 player Co-op game with werewolves or zombies or vampires i dont know but people have fancy names like galahan so awesome im in. Check it HERE
#7 Batman Arkham Origins
Now if you know my old stuff i have been talking about this game for freaking ages and here it is it shows a younger and darker batman before Arkham Asylum. You can see it HERE
#6 The Bureau XCOM Declassified
Well they showed off the same trailer as they did before but its great all top secretie and classified shiz so once again HERE
#5 The Crew
I’ve been skeptical since Test drive unlimited 2 about open world multiplayer drivers but if Ivory tower get it right The Crew will be a big hit at Kokstars. Check out the Gameplay HERE
#4 The Division
Ok now the last Tom Clancy ghost recon was a let down but this looks amazing hopefully its execution will be as good as the presentation it is multiplayer so those voices are people not voice actors check it HERE. But if you are confused about the story HERE

What is in the cube?
Designer of the Populous game Peter Molyneux and his studio 22 cans released a game called “Curiosity: What’s inside the Cube” which left hundreds of thousands of gamers furiously tapping the way to the middle now the Shaun and I were some of these people. Only one can win and he or she will receive a “Life Changing” something.
SO it seems that with all the tapping going on, one luck gamer in Edinburgh, Scotland by the name of Bryan Henderson has reached the middle and he got THIS video to celebrate his accomplishment from Molyneux himself.
So what does he get from all that tapping well he gets to create the rules for Godus, (a game that Peter kickstarted back in december) and he gets a percentage of any money Godus makes…….
Shit I should have kept tapping at that damn cube.
Ps4 Launch for 2013
Last week the Xbox One was revealed, and now we see the advertisement for the PS4.
So the PS4 will hit the European stores in 2013, that means we are going to have a two console release WORLDWIDE thats one busy week.
On a post from Joystiq regarded that the PS3 was delayed in Europe when it was launched. so Playstation Europe gave a statement after some enquiry was made about their AD
“We announced at the PlayStation Meeting event on February 20 that [the] PS4 would be coming in 2013… the adverts are simply re-stating that message. More information about [the] PS4 and all PlayStation platforms will be announced at E3.”
So…. with E3 just around the corner we should be getting a full picture of what players will be made legends on.

Star wars games to be made by EA
EA and Disney have announced that the two mega corporations will be entering a multi-year agreement to develop and publish the new video games based on the Star wars world. From the press release Ea’s internal studios will be assigned the task of developing the projects over the contract.
EA’s Labels president Frank Gibeau stated
“Every developer dreams of creating games for the Star Wars universe. Three of our top studios will fulfill that dream, crafting epic adventures for Star Wars fans. DICE and Visceral will produce new games, joining the BioWare team which continues to develop for the Star Wars franchise. The new experiences we create may borrow from films, but the games will be entirely original with all new stories and gameplay.”
So what happens to Star wars 1313 will we ever see it?
But this is not unexpected after Bioware got the Knights of the old republic it would seem that it would go to one of the big companies maybe we will finally see Battlefront 3 or a Sims star wars expansion pack. In any case it will be awesome and hopefully we will see some kind of homage to the previous star wars games.
Gear box announces new Borderlands 2 DLC (bout time)
A post from Destructoid reports that a Gearbox employee has accidentally let the cat out of the bag early by tweeting a photo which had the poster in the background now if this was intentional i dont know but i has given us insight in to the fourth and last dlc in the seasons pass.
on the 25th of june Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragons Keep DLC will be released which follows Tiny Tina who is running a role-playing tabletop game. Hopefully it will be as loot filled as the last DLC on the first borderlands.
Gearbox and Sega responds to lawsuit
Gamers were outraged at the lacklustre game they got when Aliens colonial marines hit our shelves they felt that they were wronged and many spent hours at their keyboards, but they did more then just post on forums, they went to court with Gearbox and Sega over perceived consumer deception.
While the suit – which alleges that demos of the game are shown at conventions were active attempts at the game’s makers to dupe gamers into buying an inferir final product.
So Gearbox and Sega have returned with statements
Sega’s statement
“SEGA cannot comment on specifics of ongoing litigation, but we are confident that the lawsuit is without merit and we will defend it vigorously.”
Gearbox Statement
“Attempting to wring a class action lawsuit out of a demonstration is beyond meritless. We continue to support the game, and will defend the rights of entertainers to share their works-in-progress without fear of frivolous litigation.”
I feel that the demos that gearbox showed us at the conferences were “work-in-progress” so it wasn’t actually from the game that was released. Now is it right to do so no obviously being a high end developer they should have done better. In the end i dont think this case will go very far.
Bethesda announces Wolfenstein: The new order
Recently we have been having hints to a new project from Bethesda and we now have a confirmation that it is Wolfenstein: The new order which might be a reboot or sequel. You can see the trailer HERE
According to the company’s press release the game is to be released in the fourth quarter and for PS3, PC and Xbox 360 no PS4 at the moment.
Now that we know its not Fallout 4 but it looks really good and its a important game from many gamers childhood.
